Teams and cloud
A new Teams and cloud group covers the cloud tier. It needs the hosted service, which is not live yet, and each page says so. Teams and roles: the four roles (owner, admin, member, reviewer), invites, and
vfrey org list|use. Cloud projects and sync: vfrey cloud link|push|pull|status, what syncs, conflicts, and storage quotas. Team review: the shared queue and who decides. Cloud rendering: isolated render jobs, render-minutes, and credits. Hosted scene editor. Public API: personal tokens, scene edits, render jobs, and errors. SDK: @vfrey/sdk, not on npm yet.
Also: the commands page lists org, cloud, --version, scene inspect, and scene studio, and Scenes explains the last two. Troubleshooting has the new cloud errors.Install commands
The unscoped name
vfrey is blocked on npm, so the package is @vfrey/vfrey (command vfrey) next to create-vfrey. Start with npm create vfrey@latest my-channel (beta: @beta). In an existing folder run npx @vfrey/vfrey init. Inside a project npx vfrey ... works. Install once with npm i -g @vfrey/vfrey to run vfrey ... anywhere. Troubleshooting explains the 404 from npx vfrey outside a project.Autopilot, transitions, paid features
New pages cover everything merged since the last pass. Autopilot is free: a new series starts in dry-run, and you go live by typing its channel id once (
desk series live, or Go live on the series page). It covers the publish, engage, and review switches, the Keys page, the never-uploads-twice guarantees, the Publications, Sources, Engage, and Trends screens, review before render (the Review screen, desk job approve|reject, the awaiting_review state), and the live scene preview. Shader transitions: vfrey.transition, scene transitions, and the 15 types. They work in HTML scenes and not in Remotion.
A new Paid features group says what needs an account and says plainly that accounts and the hosted service are not live yet. Plans and credits: what is free, the plans, prepaid credits, and what happens when credits run out or capacity is paused. Topics: vfrey topics, niches, requests, the vfrey-topics series source, and the Topics screen. Creators: vfrey creators search|show|watch|export|alerts, Study formats, and the privacy and opt-out note. Mail: vfrey mail draft|drafts|show|approve|send|discard|identity, where a person approves and sends and an agent never does. MCP: connect Claude Desktop, claude.ai, ChatGPT, or Cursor, the tools, and no send tool.
Also: whoami shows credits and usage. The commands page lists every command from --help. Troubleshooting has entries for plan_required, credits_required, the monthly limit, capacity_paused, and the Mail 403 and 409 refusals. The introduction and Products no longer say there is no MCP server or that Mail is planned.Checks, blocks, worker, account
New pages cover what merged this week. Quality checks: vfrey reviews every video before and after the render, rejects a failed quality check, blocks a failed compliance check, and re-renders once when that can help. Results show on the run page, in the
tick summary, and in tick --json as checks. Scene blocks: scene blocks, scene add, vfrey.block, and the four fit modes. Background worker: vfrey service install|uninstall|status|logs, worker --all-projects, the per-project lock, and the log. Account: login, logout, and whoami. Free features need no account, and accounts are not live yet, so login says so. Local desk: the Metrics page shows a dash when a platform returned nothing, labels fields the official APIs do not expose, says how many posts a total covers, and shows when and from where each reading came.
Also: the engine order is now --engine, the series, the project’s vfrey.json, then the machine default. A symlinked folder is one project. skill install takes --project. The commands page lists every command from --help, including the desk verbs.Projects
The docs are now project-first. The quickstart is
npx create-vfrey my-channel, cd my-channel, open the folder in your agent, ask for a video, then npx vfrey open. A new Projects page covers the folder layout, how a project is found (like git), the data folder order (DATA_DIR, VFREY_HOME, project, machine desk), readable video names in videos/, one dashboard per project, the vfrey projects index, and importing ~/.vfrey with --from. The commands page adds create-vfrey, init, open, videos, and projects, and says See it: is always a live link. A project already holds AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, GEMINI.md, and the skill for every agent, so skill install is for working outside a project.Your agent
The agents page is now Your agent. It has a tab for Claude Code, Codex, Grok, Cursor, and Gemini CLI, with the install command, the skill folder, how to start, and how to update. It also covers agents that only read
AGENTS.md. The docs no longer say that only Claude Code loads the skill.Render engines
You can now choose the render engine. Remotion is the default. vfrey Framey is bundled and ready once Chrome Headless Shell is cached. HyperFrames is ready when its CLI is installed. ComfyUI is listed but not wired yet. Choose with
--engine on tick and render, per series, or with npx vfrey engine use ENGINE_ID. The engine that rendered appears in the summary, --json, the run page, and doctor. A chosen engine that cannot run ends the job blocked with a Fix: line, with no fallback. Every ready engine follows the voice length and burns an AI-GENERATED chip into the picture. See Engines.
The package is now @vfrey/vfrey, and the beta file is vfrey-vfrey-1.0.0.tgz. The command is still vfrey.Agent gaps
The agents page now covers Claude Code and other agents (Grok, Codex, Cursor) separately, and the skill-install conflict. Agent-written scripts (
--script, --script-template) are documented. One-off and series runs, skipped (no_keys), VFREY_HOME, render paths, and dashboard ports are clearer.Truth pass
The docs now describe vfrey as it is: a command-line tool plus a skill for coding agents, in private beta. Pages cover the quickstart, the run stages, the local desk, and the commands. Remotion is the renderer. Framey is being rebuilt. HyperFrames and ComfyUI are unavailable.
